Culinary Adventures of Mexico presents Oaxacan Gastronomy and Culture
February 14-20

Arrival in Oaxaca City.
6:00-Welcome cocktails and dinner with an overview of your week of fun-filled activities in Oaxaca.

We’re off to a small village to learn the secrets of making pozole from a local famiily before sitting down to a lunch of carnitas and salsas. Then on to Rancho Aurora, home of Seasons of My Herat Cooking School for our first hands-on class and dinner.

A morning visit to Natividas Reyes for a chocolate making demonstration on a metate. We’ll also see cheese makers at work, before heading back to Oaxaca City and a free afternoon in town.

We’ll visit local artists in the village of Ocotlán, before a pre-Hispanic cooking class, using traditional techniques. Lunch will feature Oaxacan specialities, as well as Tejate, an ancient cacao beverage.
We’ll continue to San Martín Tilcajete to visit with wood carvers and rug makers. Dinner will be at a local Zapotec eatery.

Early morning pick-up for a guided tour of the archaeological ruins of Monte Alban, before heading to the pottery village of Atzompa and a wonderful local lunch. Free afternoon in Oaxaca city.

We’re off to the local market to see piles of fruits, vegetables and chiles. Then we’ll stop to the local chocolate mill, before returning to Rancho Aurora for a final cooking class and farewell dinner.

All scheduled activities, as well as accommodations are included in the price.
