Learn to Cook Traditional Mexican Dishes

Classes are held at La Cocina cooking school in Colonia San Antonio, where you will begin your immersion into Mexican gastronomy and cultural. The delectable recipes you will be making emphasize the lean, heart-friendly aspects of this rich and varied cuisine. Besides preparing and tasting traditional fare, some classes will focus on the new and innovative dishes coming out of Mexico today, as well as the international kitchen.

Traditional Mexican cooking classes are every Thursday afternoon. Menus range from Enchiladas, Chiles Rellenos and a variety of Salsas to the more complex moles of Oaxaca. Some favorite dishes include Sopes with Tinga, Pork Loin with Mango-Chipotle Salsa, Beef tips in Chile Pasilla Salsa and Mole Poblano, as well as Cafe de Olla and desserts like Tres Leches Cake and Chocolate Kahlua Flan. These classes are taught in English and are mostly hands-on, unless you prefer only to watch. Dinner and margaritas, as well as recipe packets, are included.

Market Tour & Salsa Cooking class

Peruse the stalls of our colorful market while learning about local produce and how it's incorporated into the Mexican kitchen. Then head back to La Cocina for an afternoon of making Salsas, followed by lunch.

"Naturally Healthy Mexican Cuisine".

Who says healthy food can't be wonderful and exciting? This class focuses on flavorful traditional and modern Mexican recipes, some dating back to pre-Hispanic times.

"Modern Mexican Fusion"

Discover a whole new way to prepare exciting Mexican dishes. The class will focus on creative, fun methods to use when cooking a Mexican feast.
